School will be closed for staff and students this Friday, November 22nd. This is due to multiple factors including the number of staff members, buses, and bus drivers required for the extended trip to North Georgia. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience but limited remaining resources within the district makes this closure necessary.

JDES Pickup Locations

Students will return to school Monday, October 21st. Students still without power will need to communicate with front office personnel.

Jeff Davis County Schools will be distributing food boxes to our students and their families on Thursday, October 17th from 1:30-2:30. See attachment for more info

The Oct. 7, 2024 Board Meeting has been cancelled due to the effects of Hurricane Helene.

With school starting back, school bus safety and the safety of our students is important. We wanted to remind everyone about the law pertaining to passing a stopped school bus loading or unloading students.

Jeff Davis County Schools will be closed for all students on Thursday, August 8th due to storm damage and flooding caused by Tropical Storm Debby. The most recent report indicates there are over 40 roads closed or impassable within the county as well as numerous other roads that are difficult or unsafe to travel on. The school system is also taking into consideration the city sewage system, which has been heavily impacted by the additional flood waters and could become overwhelmed with the return of students.
Staff will report in the morning at 8:00am for a work day. Any staff member experiencing any weather-related issue, we ask that you please reach out to your principal or central office director.
We are optimistic that students will be able to return to school on Friday, August 9th, however, we will continue to monitor conditions with our EMA, as well as city and county officials for guidance. If a change is made, we will notify the community via the school/district Facebook pages, district website, and the school messaging system.
